Continuing Education
Continuing education units (CEUs) allow HACP professionals to maintain their certification by staying current with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
The content of the CE must address areas consistent with accreditation standards and/or CMS Conditions of Participation. CE credits must be issued by the course provider.
CE can be obtained in the following ways:
- Attendance at seminars, educational programs, or other formal instruction
- Web‑based self‑study courses or learning modules
- Participation in CIHQ’s complimentary continuing education program for HACP professionals
The HACP Continuing Education Program
HACP professionals are able to access self-study modules - free of charge – directly from the HACP website. The modules address accreditation and regulatory requirements. Each module contains:
- Directions for completing the module and receiving CE credit
- A PowerPoint presentation
- An MP3 audio instruction file
- An online post-test
New modules are added to the website on a regular basis. The modules are reviewed annually and revised as necessary to ensure that the information remains current and appropriate. Each module offers 1 to 1.5 CEUs. You are able to obtain the majority of CE's necessary to maintain your certification in this manner.
